Lexy Zimmerman, LMSW

Lexy knows first-hand what it feels like to be lost, unsettled, and desperate for a change. From a young age, she struggled with anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of dread. Like many individuals, Lexy was initially very apprehensive about starting her own therapy journey. She found that finding the right therapist that she connected with was an essential part of the healing process.

Prior to being a therapist, Lexy worked in sales and advertising. She is thankful for the skills and experience it gave her, but it left her unfulfilled and unaligned with her purpose. These jobs ultimately pushed her to a breaking point and she became determined to break the cycle of emotional spiraling. Hitting rock bottom allowed her to confront the trauma she had buried, and focus on cultivating inner peace. Lexy’s self-healing journey has led her to develop healthy coping mechanisms, connect with her inner child, learn more about herself, navigate life changes (including going back to school and changing careers!), and even find a therapist she loves. She is grateful to support clients as they navigate their own therapeutic journeys.

Lexy’s therapeutic style is holistic, humanistic, curious, direct, and warm. She leads with empathy and focuses on creating a person-centered environment where real, raw conversations can occur. She aims to create a space that feels safe, comfortable, empowering, and grounding. Her approach is integrative—blending evidence-based theories, DBT, and traditional talk therapy, as well as Eastern philosophy, spirituality, existentialism, and feminist theory. Lexy believes a strong therapeutic alliance is essential for creating change and values feedback and collaboration in sessions.

Lexy received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University and Bachelor of Arts degree in both history and philosophy from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health degree at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to continue fostering a deeper sense of the macro systems that contribute to our inner world. She is originally from Pennsylvania, but lives in New York and spends all of her time with her Pomeranian, Curtis. She enjoys reading (fantasy, romance, and thrillers mostly), taking walks at Riverside Park, Pilates, visiting her nephews, traveling, and trying new restaurants. She is so happy you’re here and is honored to be part of your journey!
